What Is Your Favorite Food?

Food must be completing our happiness and I believe you have your favorite food. In this post, I would like to share about my favorite food. I will also tell you the story about how I fall in love with the food.

Ifu Mie (Recipe Video):

Crispy Noodle in Christmas Island

When I was about 8 years old, my aunt cooked Ifu Mie, Chinese food. It’s consisted of Fried noddle which look like a nest and then there were vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, carrot, and chickens or seafood. Sometime you will find it with different topping. When I tasted the gravy, it makes me love it. Even I love when the fried noddle is half wet which is still a bit crispy.

Pempek (Recipe Video):

In Indonesia, Pempek is known well and it is original food from Palembang, Sumatra. I really like this food because it has special gravy that complete it. Pempek is made from fish (we called it with Tengiri) mix with sago and some other ingredients. But, I don’t like the one with the egg in it. The first time I ate this food was when my aunt took me to the town square and we tried this food. I remember well how I met the food because it was in front of TV and there was information tells that our second president passed away.

Zuppa Soup (Recipe Video):

This food is adopted from European food. It’s about puff pastry which has cream soup inside it. I think this is the yummy food that I love. I met this food when I attended my parents’ friend wedding party. I think the food is unique and I tried twice at that time. Lucky that I got favorite Zuppa Soup during my time in Yogyakarta. So, I visited this place 3 times in a month.

Meat Pie (Recipe Video):

You must be knowing this food. It is from Australia and it is one of the famous food in Australia. I met this meat pie when I was living in Cocos Keeling Island with @dokterjalanjalan. He accidentally bought those pies for lunch but then I tasted it and I love it.

Siomay (Recipe Video):

This food is similar with Pempek which is made from fish but it is original street food from Bandung, West Java. I like the combination of the siomay with the peanut sauces. Siomay looks like dumpling (Chinese food). I tasted this food for the first time when there was a boy who admired me since primary school. But he took me to the town square to try this food when we were in high school.

That’s all about my favorite food story. What about you? What is your favoriteΒ  food and when did you taste it for the first time? πŸ™‚

  6. Question: Are those Chinese dumplings made from rice or wheat? They look delicious regardless πŸ™‚ Around here, one of my favorite local delicasies are the deep-fried morel mushrooms. Only found in the spring months and some years (this one) are more plentiful than others. We batter them with with egg dip and then a cornmeal & spice batter. Yummo!
