Ande-Ande Lumut is one of the famous folklore in Indonesia. It was performed in the form of play many times. In this post, I would like to share you about the photo sessions and a bit story of Ande-Ande Lumut. So, we used the theme Ande-Ande Lumut for our photo sessions.
We chose a waterfall as the setting and we’re wearing traditional villagers’ clothes. The waterfall is the symbol of river in the story. We’re representing the figures in the story such as Klenting Kuning (yellow), Klenting Merah (red), Klenting Biru (blue) dan Klenting Hijau (green).
There was a widow who living in the small village near the river. The widow has kid called Ande-Ande Lumut who is actually a prince in disguise to look for his love. Meanwhile, there were girls living in the other village across the river, they’re klentings. The yellow one is actually a princess in disguise for escaping herself from the kingdom.
One day, Ande-Ande Lumut wants to look for a wife. The widow announced that Ande-Ande Lumut is a very handsome guy. So, many girls want to marry him. All the klenting tried to come to Ande-Ande Lumut’s house.
The klentings have to across the big river by riding a giant crab which is half of human called Yuyu Kangkang. The giant crab wants the klentings to pay them with a kiss. So, all the klentings kissed him except the yellow one. Yuyu Kangkang didn’t want to kiss the yellow one because she is ugly and smelly.
Then, when all the klentings arrived at Ande-Ande Lumut’s house, they’re all refused. Ande-Ande Lumut only chose Klenting Kuning because he knows that she didn’t kiss Yuyu Kangkang. He notices it from the smell of crab. There was no crab smell on Klenting Kuning. Then they’re changed into the real look as they’re actually a prince and a princess. They’re married and come back to their kingdom.
