I Forgot How Many Times I Have Visited Water Castle

Water castle is one of popular heritage places that you have to visit in Yogyakarta. It is part of palace area but it is not used by the king anymore. Long time ago, The Water Castle is used as a place where the king wanted to relax and made love with one of his wives. He would sit at the room on top and then throwing a flower to the pool. The wife who got the flower would sleep with the king tonight. That is only a pieces of interesting history from Yogyakarta that I love. There are more than that. šŸ™‚

I remember the first time I visited the water castle. I was a high school student and has a test in Yogyakarta for applying uni with my friends. After the test, we visited the water castle. But I forgot how many times I have visited the water castle as I have guided tourists and friends there. The best pictures that I’ve got from my visit was when I took my friend Karina from Austria. She is great in taking pictures. So, here I will show you her photos in this post.

I also visited the water castle with my best friends in uni. We spent our time at the end of semester before we back to our hometown. It was nice to have this memory because we were far each other right now for working. Sometimes we would meet up in Yogyakarta.

Water castle is very close to the palace and it has under ground path where you can walk along the path. Then you will see a building under ground which the people used for mosque at that time.

There was also a under ground path that has blocked. Some tour guides said that the path was used by the king to go to the South Beach to meet his mistress The Queen of South Beach. That’s part of the myth which is also interesting for me. There is a pool in the Water Castle but you couldn’t swim there. Once you visit Yogyakarta, put Water Castle in your list.
